Quilt is an Advanced AWS Technology Partner
Quilt Data is an AWS Advanced Technology Partner. Quilt brings seamless collaboration to Amazon S3 by connecting people, pipelines, and machines using visual, verifiable, versioned data packages. Amazon Web Services provides secure, cost-effective, and scalable big data services that can help you build a Data Lake to collect, store, and analyze massive volumes of heterogeneous data.
Quilt Packages can contain structured and unstructured data, located located across geographies, storage types and cloud platforms.
This gives teams the ability to combine sets of data across ecosystems, unifying fragmented data landscapes.
Easily tag Quilt Packages with metadata collected through plugins, or entered via CLI or the Platform.
Taxonomies are managed by Quilt Workflows, which can ask for particular metadata facets be entered.
Each Package is versioned upon each revision. The revision is hashed, which is built based on the hashes of the versions of the objects contained within them. This ensures that each package version is unique and verifiable.
Each Package gets a unique identifier called a URI. These links can be shared across the organization and links to a specific version of a specific package. You can share a historical version of a package, or the latest version, and ensure that the receiver is seeing exactly the data intended, whether retrieved today or 10 years from now.
Built for R&D IT
Maintain full control over data while providing self-service data access
- Deploys in your AWS Accounts using Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation or Terraform)
- Governance built on IAM & SSO
- Replace expensive data stores with Amazon S3
Built for Scientific Teams
Accelerate discoveries with structured, accessible, AI-Ready data
- Built for Wet and Dry scientists
- Native visualizations for most Life Sciences file formats.
- Easy reproducibility through full version tracking
Search is handled intuitively in the UI, and can be done within individual buckets or catalog wide. Users can search by package metadata, object metadata or the contents of individual files. Quilt’s API and SDK empower the same, quick, deep searching mechanisms.
Workflows provide organization the ability to enforce the steps an individual Quilt Package goes through as packages go from raw to curated stages. They also enforce taxonomies, allowing teams to enforce common metadata languages across specific work streams.
Packages are easy to share to colleagues and collaborators. One link provides history, context, versioning and verifiability. These links are immutably retained, when you refer to a Quilt link within an ELN, research or a presentation, collaborators will be able to access that research whether thats 10 minutes or 10 years from now.
Context is key to understanding data, and how it can be utilized. Quilt supports a number of visualization engines to help contributors understand the quality of the data all within the platform.
Quilt also supports Amazon Athena which provides the ability to integrate more sophisticated visualization tools like Tableau or Spotfire
Quilt’s user management control panel is straightforward and defaults to AWS best practices for high compliance environments. Organizations can add users directly within the GUI, or can authenticate users to the platform using a variety of SSO services such as Okta, Google, and Azure AD.
Governance is handled using AWS’s native Identity and Access Management (IAM) under the hood, ensuring that the highest standards are met.
Users can be provided access to buckets within the Platform’s Administration User Interface, or via API calls.
Quilt keeps detailed audit trails of each user’s activities and access. It also tracks when and how each object and package were changed and by whom. Quilt also logs and reports changes to the platform to allow teams to access trends, and ensure uptime.
As a born in the cloud application, Quilt utilizes an event-based structure, as well as a rich and fully featured API and SDK.
Quilt is easily integratable into upstream and downstream processes using AWS EventBus and API Gateway. We provide detailed instructions and examples for common integrations in our documentation.
